Signs

Custom Aluminum Signs

Aluminum signs are rigid metal panels printed with your artwork for signs that stay outdoors for years: real estate post signs, parking and property signs, storefront and job-site signs. Brokerages, contractors, property managers and businesses order them when a sign must not rust, rot or warp. Send the size, single or double sided, how it mounts and your artwork, and your quote confirms the panel thickness.

How aluminum signs are made and where they last

An aluminum sign starts as a flat sheet of aluminum cut to size, then printed in one of two ways: the artwork goes directly onto the panel with UV-cured inks, or it is printed on adhesive vinyl, laminated and applied to the sheet. Both give a full-colour sign with a smooth, hard face. Rounded corners and mounting holes are cut before printing, so the finished sign arrives ready to hang on a wall, a post or a frame.

Choose the size by reading distance. An 18 x 24 in sign reads from a sidewalk or a driveway; a 24 x 36 in or larger panel suits a parking lot or a road. Thickness follows the size and the mount: 0.040 in works for most signs in a frame or on a wall, while larger panels on posts or exposed to wind call for 0.080 in or an aluminum composite panel. Your quote confirms the thicknesses available for your size.

Aluminum signs mount almost anywhere: screwed to a wall or a post, bolted to a fence with brackets, slid into a real estate sign frame, or zip-tied to chain link through the drilled holes. Because the panel is rigid and light, one person can hang most sizes. Leave a small gap behind the sign so water runs off, and use stainless or coated screws so nothing streaks the face over time.

Aluminum does not rust, so the panel outlasts the print on it. With UV-resistant inks and a laminate, the graphics stay readable through years of sun, rain and snow, which is why municipalities and property managers use the material for signs that are not meant to come down. Wash it with water and a soft cloth, since abrasive cleaners dull the print, and ask for a laminate when the sign faces direct sun all day.

Options for aluminum signs

Thickness

0.040 in aluminum is the usual choice for signs in a frame, on a wall or on a fence. 0.080 in is stiffer for larger panels or signs on posts in wind. Say where the sign mounts and the quote lists what fits.

Mounting holes

Drilled holes at the corners or along the top edge for screws, bolts, zip ties or a real estate sign frame. Tell us the frame or post you have and the holes are placed to match it.

Corners

Square corners, or rounded corners that are safer to handle and give a finished edge on parking and property signs.

Laminate

A clear laminate over the print adds scratch and UV protection for signs that face the sun all day; a matte laminate cuts glare on signs read from a road.

How ordering works: quote, digital proof, print, then delivery to the USA or Canada. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

FAQ

Aluminum Signs: questions answered

Still unsure? Ask a printing specialist.

Are aluminum signs good for outdoor use?
Yes. Aluminum is the usual material for signs that stay outside for years because it does not rust, rot or warp. The print is done with UV-resistant inks, and a laminate adds protection for signs in full sun. Tell us the location and the quote lists the right finish.
What thickness of aluminum is used for signs?
0.040 in is the common choice for signs in frames, on walls and on fences; 0.080 in is used for larger panels and signs on posts in wind. Aluminum composite panels are another option for big signs. Your quote confirms the thickness for your size.
Can I get aluminum signs for real estate?
Yes. Send the frame or post you use and the sign is cut and drilled to fit it, with your photo, logo and brokerage details on one or both sides. Standard real estate sizes such as 18 x 24 in and 24 x 36 in are typical.
Can aluminum signs be printed on both sides?
Yes. Double-sided aluminum signs are printed on both faces, which suits post signs and hanging signs seen from both directions. Choose double sided on the quote form and send both layouts or say the same artwork goes on each side.
How do I mount an aluminum sign?
Through drilled holes with screws, bolts or zip ties, in a real estate sign frame, or with brackets on a fence or post. Say how it mounts on the quote form so the holes are placed correctly, and use coated or stainless screws so nothing rusts onto the face.
