Perforated Window Film
Perforated window film, also called window perf or one-way vision film, is adhesive vinyl punched with a grid of small holes: the printed side faces the street as a full-colour graphic, while from inside the holes let people see out. Storefronts, restaurants, offices, car dealers and fleet owners use it to cover whole windows with a message without losing daylight or the view. Send the glass measurements, the perforation ratio you prefer and your artwork, and the quote confirms the film.

How perforated window film works and how it is installed
Read more
The film is a white adhesive vinyl with a black adhesive side and thousands of small holes punched through it in a regular grid. The artwork prints on the white face, and from the street the eye blends the dots into a solid image. From inside, the black back and the holes read as a dark mesh the eye looks through, the way a window screen disappears when you look past it. A clear perforated laminate can be added over the print.
The ratio is the share of film to holes. 50/50 has half the surface open, so the view out is the clearest and the image is slightly softer; 70/30 keeps 70 percent film for a denser, brighter graphic with less view. For large logos, bold colours and simple text, 50/50 works; for photographs or small type, 70/30 or a larger layout helps. Measure each pane of glass separately, because mullions and frames are left uncovered.
Perforated film applies to the outside of clean, dry glass, pressed on with a squeegee from the centre out and trimmed at the edges. Large windows are supplied in panels with an overlap and matched at the proof stage. Because the holes let water in behind the film, edges are trimmed just inside the frame or sealed. Many businesses have a local sign installer fit full-window graphics; smaller panels and vehicle rear windows are a two-person job with the instructions supplied.
Outdoors, laminated perforated film keeps its colour for years of sun and rain and wipes clean with a soft cloth and plain water, never a pressure washer. At night the effect reverses: with the inside lit and the outside dark, people outside can see in through the holes, which is why privacy applications pair it with blinds. The film removes with heat, any adhesive residue is cleaned off, and a new seasonal design can go on the same glass.
Options for perforated window film
Perforation ratio
50/50 keeps half the surface open for the clearest view out and a slightly softer image; 70/30 keeps more film for a denser graphic with less view. Say which matters more, the picture or the view.
Perforated laminate
An optically clear laminate with matching holes protects the print from scuffs and weather and stops rain from pooling in the perforations, which keeps the view out clear after a storm.
Panelling
Wide windows are printed as panels with an overlap and a numbered layout, matched in the proof, so an installer or your own team can fit them in order.
Vehicle rear windows
Film for a rear window is cut to the glass outline you send and applied outside; the holes keep the view through the rear-view mirror where the wiper is not in the way.
How ordering works: quote, digital proof, print, then delivery to the USA or Canada. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.
