Using floor graphics at an event

The floor is the one surface every visitor looks at while walking. A trail of arrows from the entrance to registration, a large logo in the middle of a booth, or a circle in front of a media wall that says where to stand for the photo: each one guides people without a sign stand in the way.

Floor graphics are printed on vinyl and covered with a textured laminate that gives grip underfoot and protects the print from scuffs. The surface matters: smooth, clean, sealed floors hold adhesive vinyl best. Carpet needs a different material made for carpet. Exhibition halls and hotels may have their own rules on floor graphics, so check with the venue before ordering.

Apply on a clean, dry floor, press from the center outwards to avoid bubbles, and avoid high-traffic doorways with carts and pallets. Removable adhesive lifts cleanly after the event from most sealed floors.

Options for floor graphics

Hard floor or carpet

Smooth sealed floors (concrete, tile, vinyl, sealed wood) take adhesive vinyl. Exhibition hall carpet needs a carpet-grade graphic with a different adhesive. Tell us the floor surface on the quote form.

Short or long term

Removable adhesive suits a few days to a few weeks and comes off cleanly from most sealed floors. For longer use in a store, ask about a stronger adhesive.

Shapes

Circles, arrows, footprints and logo outlines are contour cut. Keep thin points to a minimum, because narrow tips are the first to lift.

Are floor graphics slippery?

They are finished with a textured anti-slip laminate made for walk-on use. As with any floor covering, keep them out of wet areas and apply them on a clean, dry floor.

Can floor decals go on carpet?

Yes, with a carpet-grade material and adhesive, which is different from the vinyl used on hard floors. Tell us the floor is carpeted on the quote form.

Will floor graphics damage the floor?

Removable adhesive comes off cleanly from most sealed floors after a short event. On unsealed wood, natural stone or freshly painted floors, test a small piece first or ask the venue.

How long do floor graphics last?

Removable floor graphics are made for short-term use, from a single event to several weeks, depending on foot traffic. Tell us how long they must stay down and we recommend the material.
