Custom Vinyl Banners
A custom vinyl banner is a full-colour print on scrim-reinforced PVC vinyl, hemmed on all four edges and finished with grommets so it ties to a wall, fence, railing or stage. Stores, contractors, schools, churches and event organisers use them for grand openings, sales, sponsors and site notices. Send the width and height, where it will hang and your artwork, and you get a quote with a digital proof at final size before anything is printed.

How a custom vinyl banner is made and used
Read more
Banner vinyl is a PVC sheet laminated over a woven polyester scrim, which is why it is sold by weight: 13 oz per square yard is the everyday grade, with 15 oz and 18 oz for heavier duty. The roll goes through a large-format printer that lays down UV-resistant inks across the full width, so a 4 x 8 ft banner prints as one piece with no seams. After printing, the edges are folded and heat-welded or sewn into a hem, and grommets are pressed through the hem.
Size follows the reading distance, not the wall. A line of 4 in letters is legible from roughly 40 ft, so a 3 x 6 ft banner over a shop door carries a short headline and a logo comfortably, while a 4 x 8 ft banner on a fence can hold a phone number and a second line. Matte vinyl is easier to read under lights and in photographs; gloss gives colours more punch outdoors. Your quote states the exact material and weight.
Hanging is a matter of tension. Indoors, zip ties or hooks through the grommets are enough. Outdoors, use bungee cords rather than rigid ties so gusts stretch the cord instead of tearing the grommet, fix every grommet rather than just the corners, and keep the banner flat against a surface. For an open fence or a windy site, add wind slits or switch to a mesh banner.
A 13 oz vinyl banner kept out of constant sun and wind stays readable for a long time; hung on an exposed fence it ages faster at the grommets and edges. Reinforced corners and heavier vinyl help on long-term installs. Roll the banner print side out for storage, never fold it, and wipe it with water and mild soap. Every banner is proofed at final size before printing so text sizes and margins are checked before the roll runs.
Options for custom vinyl banners
Grommets
Metal grommets are set through the hem, usually every 2 to 3 ft and in every corner, so rope, zip ties or bungees can hold the banner on a wall, fence or railing. Ask for closer spacing on a long banner that will be pulled taut.
Pole pockets
A sewn sleeve along the top, the bottom or both takes a pole, pipe or the crossbar of a banner stand. Tell us the pole diameter and the pocket is sized to it, with 2, 3 and 4 in pockets being the usual sizes.
Wind slits
Half-moon cuts let some wind through a banner that hangs outdoors on a fence or between posts. They reduce the sail effect at the cost of a little print area, and they do not replace mesh on a fully exposed site.
Heavier vinyl
For a banner that stays up for a season, or one that is read from both sides, ask for 15 oz vinyl or 18 oz blockout. Blockout has an opaque core so a double-sided print does not ghost through in sunlight.
How ordering works: quote, digital proof, print, then delivery to the USA or Canada. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.
