Retractable Banner Stands

A retractable banner stand is a printed graphic that rolls out of a weighted aluminum base and clips to a telescopic pole, so one person sets it up in under a minute and packs it into a carry bag afterwards. Trade show exhibitors, retailers, schools, churches and clinics use them beside a table, in a lobby or at a conference entrance. Send the stand size you want, the graphic material you prefer and your artwork, and you receive a quote with a digital proof at final size before printing.

What is in the box, and how to choose the stand

A retractable banner stand has three parts. The graphic is printed on a roll material, with a clamp rail glued or clipped to the top edge and a leader strip at the bottom that attaches to the spring roller inside the cassette. The cassette is an extruded aluminum base with swing-out feet. The pole stores inside the base, extends in three sections and hooks into the top rail. All three ship together in a padded bag.

Width is the main choice. At 33 x 80 in the stand reads from across a room and fits beside a 6 ft table without crowding it. A 24 in stand fits a tight aisle or a lobby corner; 36 and 47 in stands carry more copy and work as a backdrop panel behind a table. Design with the top third in mind, where the eye lands, and keep the bottom 4 to 6 in free of important content because it sits close to the base.

Setup is the reason people buy them: stand the base on its feet, assemble the pole, pull the graphic up by the top rail and hook it onto the pole. Taking it down is the reverse, with the graphic retracting into the cassette by itself. Roll the pole back into its slot and the whole thing goes in the bag, which is why one person can carry a booth's worth of stands onto a trade show floor.

A stand used a few times a year lasts for many events; the graphic can be swapped when the message changes, so the base is reusable. Keep the graphic retracted when not in use, carry the bag upright and avoid creasing the print. The proof at final size shows the bleed and the clamp rail area so nothing important is lost under the rail.

Options for retractable banner stands

Cassette grade

A standard cassette is a light aluminum base for occasional use. A heavier cassette with a wider base, a sturdier spring and a replaceable graphic cartridge suits weekly events and rental fleets. The quote lists the cassette you chose.

Graphic material

Curl-free vinyl with a blockout backing lies flat and blocks light from behind. Polypropylene film is lighter and resists edge curl. Polyester fabric gives a soft, glare-free finish for photography. Each is printed on one side and proofed at final size.

Double-sided stand

For an aisle or a doorway seen from both directions, a double-sided cassette holds two graphics that roll out from the same base. Order two prints, with the same or different artwork.

Replacement graphic only

If you already own a stand, order the print alone. Tell us the make or send a photo and the cassette width, and the new graphic comes with the top rail and leader strip needed to fit it.

How ordering works: quote, digital proof, print, then delivery to the USA or Canada. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

FAQ

Retractable Banner Stands: questions answered

Still unsure? Ask a printing specialist.

What size is a standard retractable banner?
About 33 x 80 in, give or take an inch depending on the cassette; some stands are 33 x 78 in or 33 x 81 in. Narrower 24 in stands and wider 36 and 47 in stands are made at the same height. The proof shows the exact printed size for the stand you order.
Can I order the stand only, or just the print?
Yes to both. A stand with no graphic is useful if you print elsewhere, and a replacement graphic is useful if you already own a cassette. For a replacement, send the cassette width and a photo of the top rail so the new print is cut and fitted to it.
Which material should the graphic be printed on?
Curl-free blockout vinyl is the usual choice because it lies flat and does not show light from behind. Polypropylene film is lighter, and polyester fabric avoids glare under stage lights or camera flash. Your quote states the material.
How do I set up a retractable banner stand?
Swing out the feet, assemble the three pole sections, slot the pole into the base, then pull the graphic up by the top rail and hook it onto the pole. It takes about a minute, and the graphic retracts into the cassette when you unhook it.
Is a retractable banner the same as a pop up banner?
People use roll-up, pull-up, pop-up and retractable to mean the same stand: a graphic that pulls out of a base. A pop-up display is different, a folding frame with fabric or panels that makes a back wall 8 to 10 ft wide.
