Media Walls & Press Backdrops

A media wall is the large printed backdrop where speakers are interviewed, sponsors are thanked and guests take photos at a conference, summit or launch. It is usually 8 to 20 ft wide, printed on matte fabric or blockout vinyl, and stands on its own frame so it can go anywhere in the venue. Send the width, the logos and the look you want, a repeat pattern or one big graphic, and you receive a quote and a full-size proof.

Media wall, press wall or step and repeat?

The names overlap. A step and repeat is a pattern: the same logos repeated in a grid so a logo appears in any photo crop. A media wall or press wall is the structure: a large free-standing backdrop where interviews and photos happen. Most media walls carry a step-and-repeat pattern, but many summits now print the event name and theme as one bold graphic instead.

For photography, matte fabric is the best surface because it does not reflect flash or stage light. Logos in a repeat pattern should be sized so that two or three are visible behind one person's head and shoulders; for an 8 ft high wall that usually means logos about 12 to 18 in wide. We check the spacing on the proof.

A wall used across several events should be fabric on a tube frame, which packs into a case and sets up without tools. A wall for one evening can be blockout vinyl on an adjustable telescopic stand. Both stand on their own and do not need to be fixed to the venue.

Give us the event date and the venue delivery address on the quote form, and we confirm what can be produced in time.

Options for media walls

Repeat pattern or full graphic

A repeat pattern of event and sponsor logos (a step and repeat) keeps a logo in every photo crop. A single full-width graphic with the event name suits a photo wall or a stage. You can also mix the two: a headline band at the top and a logo pattern below.

Fabric or vinyl

Matte fabric photographs with no glare and folds into a bag. Blockout vinyl on a telescopic stand is the budget option and suits a single event; it rolls rather than folds.

Floor and carpet

Add a printed floor graphic in front of the wall to mark where guests stand, or ask about a carpet runner. We quote them as separate lines.

How ordering works: quote, digital proof, print, then delivery to the USA or Canada. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

FAQ

Media Walls: questions answered

Still unsure? Ask a printing specialist.

What is the difference between a media wall and a step and repeat?
A step and repeat is the repeated-logo pattern; a media wall is the large backdrop it is printed on. A media wall can carry a step-and-repeat pattern, a single graphic, or both.
What size should a media wall be?
8 x 8 ft fits one or two people in a photo. 10 x 8 ft fits small groups and interviews. 20 x 8 ft suits a stage, a sponsor wall or group photos. Tell us the room and the use and we suggest a size.
How many logos fit on a media wall?
It depends on the wall and how big each logo should look in photos. On an 8 x 8 ft wall a repeat of two or three logos, each 12 to 18 in wide, is common. Send the logos and we lay out the pattern on the proof.
Can I reuse the frame next year?
Yes. Keep the frame and order a new fabric sleeve or vinyl print with the new sponsors and date.
