Planning an overhead sign

A hanging sign is the one part of a booth that is visible over the crowd, which is why island and peninsula booths use them to be found from across the floor. A ring or circle shape is printed on the outside of a fabric sleeve that slides over a light aluminum frame, so it ships in a bag and assembles without tools.

Every exhibition hall has its own rules for hanging signs: which booth types may have one, the maximum height to the top of the sign, and who installs it. Rigging is almost always done by the venue's own crew and ordered through the show's service desk. Check the exhibitor manual before ordering and tell us the limits; we size the sign to fit them.

For conference halls, atriums and stages, flat vertical banners are simpler: a printed fabric or vinyl panel with pole pockets top and bottom, hung from the venue's rigging or a truss. Weighted bottom poles keep the banner straight in air from the ventilation.

Put the logo and one short line on each face; overhead signs are read from 50 ft away or more, so text must be large and simple. Give us the show date on the quote form and we confirm the timing.

Shape

Circles and rings read from every direction and suit island booths. Squares and rectangles give four flat faces for longer text. Triangles and tapered shapes stand out in a hall full of circles.

Flat hanging banners

For a hall, an atrium or a stage, a flat banner with top and bottom pole pockets hangs straight and can carry a long event name. Ask for weighted bottom poles to keep it from twisting.

Double-sided flat banners

A blockout fabric or vinyl banner can be printed on both sides so it reads correctly from either direction along a hall.

Who hangs the banner at the show?

At most exhibition halls the venue's rigging crew hangs it, ordered through the show's service desk, and the exhibitor manual sets the deadlines. We supply the printed sign with its frame ready to assemble.

What size hanging sign should I order?

For a 20 x 20 ft island booth, a 10 to 12 ft circle or square, 3 to 4 ft tall, is common. Check the show's maximum hanging height and sign size rules first, then tell us the limits.

Can a flat hanging banner be printed on both sides?

Yes. A blockout fabric or vinyl banner is printed on both faces so it reads correctly from either direction.

Is the frame reusable?

Yes. Aluminum frames last for many shows, and a new printed sleeve can be ordered for a new design.
